Artist Statement:
With familiarity there is intrigue and comfort. Iconic images of mythical and religious figures and settings are universal, with endless connections. Aspects of these stories are interchangeable and new mythos can be created by weaving elements of existing narratives together, without losing integrity or acquaintanceship. My installations use soft, yet provocative colors and materials to invite the viewer to experience these themes in an updated setting. Additionally, my videos utilize lulling music and vividly delightful, yet bizarre imagery to seduce the viewer into a hypnagogic state. By recontextualizing mundane ideals, I am able to provide the viewer with the refurbished product of a modern absurdist theology.
